Week in review
It seems like it flew by, considering we arrived on the 14th late in the afternoon we consider this the end of our first week in Budapest, and Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.
The week really went smoothly with the help of old and new friends. Phones, internet, banking, flats and transportation all happened with the help of Andrea, Annamaria, Kristina, Stefan, Iliona, George and Istvan. Thanks to all of you.
We continue to explore, mainly in Pest, today I found the Aldi. Similar to the ones in the US but here they sell chain saws. We are already spoiled with our market across the street as the produce in Aldi looked old and picked over. I bought salt and pepper, 2 frozen salmon fillets, 999 HUF, and some all purpose cleaner. The bread at the Aldi was pilled in big bins, not wrapped.
It rained off and on all day today but cleared this evening and we walked about 20 min to Barbara Guttman's flat, she loaned us an electric tea pot and a hair dryer. She also gave us a jar of her Mothers roasted paprika salsa, we had it on the salmon and it was wonderful.
I'm going to send these pics along and sign off for today. Wish you were here, all except... you know who you are.
Pics are of Pest from the Funicular, common street view, bar at the Central Kavehaze, Lisa and Barbara and the Market. I'm never quite sure how they will load. We do miss calling Clayton for computer help, and other things.
