I've been looking for materials to "hang" Lisa's show. We may need to use cables to suspend a sheet of steel between 2 columns. I had found a ships store with most of the supplies I needed but Stefan said I needed to go to OBI..."they have everything there."
Rode #4 Tram, switched to #2 Tram, screwed up and got on #24 Tram, got off #24 Tram and got back on #24 Tram going the other way, right to the OBI.
The OBI is a Hungarian version of a Home Depot, smaller but still impressive. Huge garden center with tillers, look hard at the brand name. The sale price of the tiller is $360.
I did find what I was looking for but the prices were very high and if I need the cables I will buy them at the ships store. The best part of the OBI was the restaurant. They had a complete Bufe and also sold Jack Daniels in 1.5L bottles.
The street parking in Budapest is advanced. These kiosks are in the center of each block and at each corner. You stand by the kiosk, you dial the phone number on the kiosk, you enter your auto license number and how long you want to park. The kiosk will send you a text message to confirm as well as a text message when your time runs low...very cool.
I also saw a construction crew working and snapped a picture. Most municipal workers are very camera shy, I think they think I'm from the KGB.
